WED: AUGUST 21  - 2008

In addition to our regular Tuesday night classes we will also have Saturday afternoon classes on August 30th and September 6th from 1 pm to 3 pm. These additional classes are to give our adult class more experience with outdoor shooting and to prepare for the Fall 900 Round Tournament that will be held September 13th and 14th.

See you there,

Coach Lynn

MON: JULY 28  - 2008

This Tuesday night (29th) we will have a going away party during our class for Leslie Fournier. She and her family are moving to Arkansas. Leslie has been a devoted Huntsville Archery Club member for several years and she will be greatly missed.  Make plans to having your supper at class tomorrow night. We will have pizza, drinks, ice cream and cake. Even if you can’t stay for the class at least stop by and tell Leslie good bye.

Thanks,

Coach Lynn

THURS: JUNE 2  - 2008

There will be no class this Saturday July 5th. This Friday is the July 4th Holiday and I’m extending the Holiday into the weekend. Classes will resume the following Saturday July 12. Remember, Saturday July 12 and Sunday July 13 is the Summer 900 Round Tournament and we will still have class that Saturday morning.

Get your sites set for the 900 Round and we’ll also work on them at next Saturday’s class. The 900 Round is a lot of fun and if you’ve never participated in one, give it a try. Information on the 900 Round is available at www.huntsvillearcheryclub.com.

Have a great 4th of July weekend and I’ll see you next Saturday, July 12th.

Thanks,

Coach Lynn

WED: APRIL 9  - 2008

FINALLY, WE GO OUTSIDE!!!!!

JOAD Youth Archery will resume activities outside beginning this Saturday April 5, 2008.  For now there will be only one time slot on Saturdays for outdoor JOAD which will be from 9am - 12 noon.  The only exception is for the first time archer who will start at 10am for their first lesson and thereafter 9am.  Also, don't forget to bring a lawn chair.

The temperature in April is unpredictable so be sure to watch the forecast and bring warm clothing when cool Saturday mornings are predicted.  Tight fit layering insulation is best to wear to prevent the bowstring from interfering with your clothing.  Loose fitting and bulky jackets make it impossible to shoot without bowstring interference.

COMING SOON IS THE SPRING 900 ROUND TOURNAMENT MAY 3 & 4.

We go outside just in time for some good practice before the Spring 900 Round Tournament, which will be held Saturday May 3 and Sunday May 4.  I will be e-mailing you a flyer with the entry form and information on the divisions, distances and cost of the tournament soon.  The following is some of the information:  You may shoot your official score either day.  The event will be held on Huntsville Archery Club’s archery field behind Custom Archery Center.  You will shoot at three different distances.  The distances will be determined by your age and whether you shoot recurve, traditional or a compound bow.  Awards will be given out Sunday at the completion of the tournament.

See you Saturday,

Coach Lynn

THURS: NOVEMBER 22 - 2007

Due to the large number of archers participating, it has become necessary to hold 2 sessions for shooting indoors on Saturday mornings. The idea behind this is to keep the number of participants in each session as even as possible and reduce the number of archers per session to a comfortable number. Hopefully, this will not be an inconvenience to any of you.

INDOOR SESSION TIME SCHEDULE:

The first session will be from 9am to 11am. Archers whose last name begins with letters A through G will shoot during this session. The second session will be from 11:30am to 1:30pm for archers whose last name begins with letters H through Z.

All new archers will initially start at 11:30am for their first 3 lessons and thereafter will follow the designated schedule.

For those car pooling, with archers that would qualify for both sessions, please try to choose the class that has had the least number of participants. Please try to make it at your designated time, however if you find it impossible to make your designated time you may participate during the other session. See coach for exceptions.

WED: SEPTEMBER 5 - 2007

One of our youth archery JOAD members, Lori Clements, was diagnosed with leukemia a few weeks ago. Most of the new archers may not know her; she and her sisters, Rebekah, Amie, and Elizabeth have not been to Saturday morning classes most of the summer but they have been participants in the program for quite some time. Lori is being treated at St. Jude's Hospital in Memphis.

You can go to HERE for more information on Lori. I also encourage you to sign the Guestbook and write her a note of support and encouragement.

I’ve had a banner made and would like for the kids to hold it up while we take a picture of it this Saturday (Sept. 8). I’ve taken a few but would like more. I will send the banner and pictures to St. Jude’s while she’s in the hospital. It would be great if I could have as many kids as possible in the picture. I will also have a card for everyone to sign. I plan on taking the picture around 10:30 Saturday morning. Even if you do not plan to participate in the archery class that morning maybe you can still stop by to get in the picture and sign the card.

Thanks in advance for your participation,

Coach Lynn
